Are you looking for an exterior remodeling company near Bettendorf, Iowa that prides themselves in a truly professional installation?
Then look no further.
We all know the home improvement process can be a difficult one with the added stress of trusting someone to provide you with honest answers and quality materials that perform the way they should. We want you to have the best experience when it comes to your home improvement project.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and my family.
I am Darrin Marcure, owner and operator of EZ Window and Door LLC.
I was brought into this world by my two loving and always supportive parents. I was the second of two boys, living on a small dairy farm in northwest Illinois. I had a typical farming childhood; feeding animals, cleaning out stalls, tending to the garden, and spending every spare moment outside.
It was here where my work ethic was ingrained into my soul.
No matter the time, no matter the weather, how you felt about it, or if you were tired, “you have to milk the cows.” Little did I know, every lesson I learned would stay with me forever. Even though there was always work to do, I always found time to hunt and fish as often as I could.
Taking in the serenity of the wilderness will never grow old.
As time went on, my father sold the dairy cows after milking for 40 years, finding employment with my uncle who was a log home builder. This is where construction started becoming part of our lives. Listening to my father explain to me what they did every day, I couldn’t wait to do it myself someday.
School came easy for me. I had the normal kid attitude about the whole thing. The classes were always more fun if you could sit by your friends.
When High School finally came along, it was welcomed with open arms.
I had the opportunity to be in shop class. I loved every moment of it. Our curriculum required us to complete 10 projects over the course of Wood 1 and 2. I completed one shop project before being promoted to shop helper for the class. Helping other students complete their projects on time was more rewarding than working on my own.
When I became a Junior at my school, I had the option to take classes at the area vocational center. With Construction Technologies being one of the two-year courses, it didn’t take me long to sign up. This provided the kids in the local school districts the opportunity to learn construction skills.
If you completed two full years, you would have experience in building a house start to finish. I took in all the information I could, building on all my skills that I had acquired when growing up on a farm.
My First Construction Job
I started painting the summer after high school. It was my first real construction job outside helping my Father and Uncle.
I learned how to paint in a new home, and remodel situations. We also completed all of the staining packages for the lumberyard, including trim, windows, and doors.
As the recession started to affect our area, jobs had become harder to obtain, farther apart, and then non-existent.
In January 2007, I moved to the Quad Cities, where I took a job framing houses. It was fast-paced, fun, and gave me an opportunity to learn every day.
I changed jobs after a while, wanting to know more about construction than framing. I worked with a construction company that performed whole house remodels, as well some light commercial work.
After about a year and a half, I climbed the ladder as far as I could, but I wanted more. So in the early months of 2009, I started my own business; doing everything from new construction siding and roofing to small basement remodels. It was in this time that I could use my youthfulness to my advantage, always leaning towards gaining more exterior remodeling jobs.
I enjoyed the hard work that was involved; the satisfaction of everyone in the neighborhood seeing your progress, it was awesome, to say the least. It was always rewarding to provide the homeowner with a job well done, and an added respect for the trade.
In October 2016, I married my beautiful wife Kirby.
She is a highly motivated, dedicated, and strong woman in her professional career. She is supportive of my every move; personally and professionally.
We have a rambunctious fur baby named Wrigley, he is a curiosity-driven cat with a personality of his father (gets mad when hungry).
Over the years, my wife and I have participated in Habitat for Humanity, volunteered at local sporting events in the area, and supplied our resources to local youth sporting complexes.
I take each and every opportunity to learn and grow with each commitment. I also take time to provide unbiased guidance to the younger generation of entrepreneurs in business and in their profession.
I still enjoy sharing the knowledge and techniques just as I did in shop class years ago.
Now I would like to hear your story.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, I hope in the near future I get to hear your story.
I also hope it shows that I hold the profession of carpentry to the highest standards, and if it works out, you will get to experience that first hand.
